MAN promotes its coach models at ceremony in Minsk

The German truck and bus maker MAN held a ceremony in an open-air café in Minsk on Friday to promote its two coach models, MAN Lion's Coach and Neoplan Starliner, BelaPAN reports.

Speaking at the ceremony, Stanislaw Ivanyushenka, deputy director of the Minsk-based MAZ-MAN joint venture, said that coach carriers had not been hit as hard as automobile manufacturers and trucking companies during the global economic crisis.

"This is evidence of the sufficient predictability and confidence of this business - coach transportation," he said, adding that coach carriers could thrive in Belarus thanks to its geographical location.

Aleksei Vinogradov, of MAN Automobiles Russia, said that the manufacturer had been the world's leader in terms of bus and coach sales in the last few years.

Concluding the ceremony, Mr. Ivanyushenka presented a representative of Belarus' top hockey club, Dinamo Minsk, with a symbolic key to its new MAN coach.
