EURONEST PA may be formed by fall, lawmaker says

The EU-Neighborhood East Parliamentary Assembly (EURONEST PA) may be formed by the fall of 2010, Nina Mazay, chairperson of the International Affairs Committee in the Council of the Republic (Belarus’ upper parliamentary house), told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday, as quoted by BelaPAN.

Nevertheless, no specific date has been given, Ms. Mazay said.

The Belarusian delegation to the EURONEST PA should consist solely of members of the National Assembly, Ms. Mazay stressed.

The "letter and spirit" of the Prague Declaration require the EURONEST PA to be a "parliamentary dimension," she explained.

Ms. Mazay meant the declaration adopted at the European Union’s launch summit for its Eastern Partnership program, which was held in the Czech capital city on May 7, 2009.
