US state secretary has welcomed EU policy regarding Belarus
US State Secretary Hillary Clinton "has welcomed the action of the EU and in particular the European Parliament on Belarus," European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek told reporters in Washington on April 27 following a meeting with Mrs. Clinton, BelaPAN reports.
Mrs. Clinton has also hailed "the creation of the new EURONEST parliamentary assembly built on the respect of common values," the press office of the president of the European Parliament quoted Dr. Buzek as saying.
Dr. Buzek said that he had been surprised by the knowledge of Mrs. Clinton about Belarus, according to US media reports.
Initially scheduled for March 24, the first meeting of the EURONEST PA has been postponed indefinitely because of differences of opinion regarding the composition of the Belarusian delegation.
