Council of Ministers grants Belarus' four refineries monopoly right to export white sugar
The Council of Ministers has, by its directive, granted Belarus' four refineries a monopoly right to export white sugar, BelaPAN reports.
The refineries are located in Slutsk and Haradzeya, Minsk region, in Skidal, Hrodna region, and in Zhabinka, Brest region.
Under the directive, the State Customs Committee and the interior ministry are to take measures to prevent the export of white sugar by other businesses, said the Council of Ministers press office. The directive has been issued because a large share of sugar exports to Russia are unauthorized, the press office of the Belarusian State Food Industry Concern (Beldzyarzhkharchpram). In 2010, Belarus may supply 150,000 tons of beet sugar to Russia.
The directive will be effective between May 1 and July 1, when the Customs Code of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia comes into force.
