Prominent opposition politician Skrabets denied access to ballot in Minsk
Prominent opposition politician Syarhey Skrabets has been denied registration as a candidate for the Minsk City Soviet.
"The Savetski district election commission`s decision says that of the 169 voter signatures collected in my support 160 have been declared invalid," Mr. Skrabets told BelaPAN. "I cannot learn so far why and on what grounds this has been done."
The former lawmaker suggested with reference to unconfirmed reports that the signatures could have been invalidated because they were gathered outside the No. 44 Lahoyski District, where he sought access to the ballot.
