Opposition activist charged with military service evasion gets registered as candidate in local elections
Yawhen Yakavenka, a member of Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) charged with military service evasion, has been registered as a candidate in the elections for the Homyel Regional Soviet.
On March 23, the election commission in Mr. Yakavenka's electoral district also granted registration to the other two contenders, Uladzimir Syakerka, a representative of the “Spravedlivy Mir” (Just World) Belarusian Party of the Left, and Alyaksandr Udodaw, head of the regional department of Belarusian Railroads, said the BCD press office. //BelaPAN
