Opposition activist Tatsyana Shaputska files suit over expulsion from Belarusian State University
Prominent young opposition activist Tatsyana Shaputska has filed a suit with Minsk's Maskowski District Court over her expulsion from Belarusian State University (BSU), BelaPAN reports.
Ms. Shaputska, a second-year political science student of the law department, was expelled from the university on December 2, 2009 for allegedly violating internal rules after she had attended a meeting of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Brussels without the permission of the dean of the department.
In the lawsuit, Ms. Shaputska denies that she was absent from the university without a valid reason, and that she had been personally invited to the Brussels meeting by an official EU representative.
