Lukashenka: Time has proved Belarus' foreign policy right

Time has proved Belarus' foreign policy right, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said while accepting the credentials of the new ambassadors of 13 countries in Minsk on January 29.

Mr. Lukashenka said that "independence and the principle of multiple vectors, pragmatism and consistency" underlay the country's foreign policy. "Belarus has always been and will always be ready for open, mutually beneficial partnership. We have only one condition - a respectful attitude toward our people, the readiness to work with us without a hidden grudge, without pressure, sincerely, honestly and openly," the presidential press office quoted him as saying.

"We will continue adhering to these principles that allow us to fulfill opportunities for cooperation with the external world to the full extent," he said.

Mr. Lukashenka noted that Minsk advocated balanced relations both with the West and the East.

The Belarusian leader accepted the credentials of the Minsk-based ambassadors of Bulgaria, France and Tajikistan, the Moscow-based ambassadors of Algeria, Belgium, Cyprus, Ivory Coast, Mali, Peru, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, as well as the Warsaw-based ambassador of the Netherlands. //BelaPAN
