Private newspapers Narodnaya Volya, Nasha Niva still unavailable at newsstands
Editors of Narodnaya Volya and Nasha Niva have denied that these private newspapers critical of the government have started being distributed through the state retail system.
"These newspapers appeared at newsstands as far back as last week," Usevalad Yanchewski, head of the Presidential Administration's ideology department, told Russia’s news agency Interfax-Zapad on November 24.
Narodnaya Volya has not yet signed the necessary contracts with state monopolist Belsayuzdruk for inclusion in the list of publications distributed through Belsayuzdruk outlets, Svyatlana Kalinkina, deputy chief editor of the newspaper, told BelaPAN on Monday.
"We hope that they will be signed today or tomorrow and the newspaper will start being distributed through the state network within two or three days," she said.
As a Nasha Niva editor told BelaPAN, although the weekly sent its proposals to Belsayuzdruk, no contracts so far have been signed. The newspaper is still unavailable at newsstands, he said.
