Belarus president comments on March 25 opposition demonstration
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has commented on an opposition demonstration held in Minsk on March 25 while he was inspecting companies in the Minsk district.
"Law-enforcement agencies refused to respond to attempts by oppositionists to blackmail them," official information sources quoted the Belarusian leader as saying.
"Shortly before, these people wrote me to suggest holding something here together. We gave them best venues... But instead of holding an orderly demonstration, they started walking around the city, watched by ambassadors. They needed a nice picture."
"We will sort things out with the position of the ambassadors." Mr. Lukashenka went to say. "It is not allowed to participate in illegal events in any country."
He added that people understood "well" what was going in the country and had an "adequate" opinion of it.
