Lukashenko expected to meet with Ukrainian President Yushchenko in late February
A meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has been preliminarily scheduled for the second half of February 2007, the Belarusian leader's press office said.
On January 9, Messrs. Lukashenko and Yushchenko had a telephone conversation on the initiative of the Ukrainian leader, according to the press office.
The main subject of their conversation was the forthcoming meeting, the press office said.
Messrs. Lukashenko and Yushchenko agreed on the need to seriously prepare for the meeting in order to sign new Belarusian-Ukrainian agreements, the press office said.
In addition, according to the press office, they exchanged opinions about important international problems, discussed a number of issues concerning the development of bilateral Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation, and welcomed the present trends in trade and economic relations between the two countries. //BelaPAN
